District Track and Field
In the girls district track meet that concluded Saturday the Lady Dogs finished in 9th place with 28 points. Top finishers for the Dogs during Saturday’s finals were Rachel Elam who qualified for the Regional Meet by placing 2nd in the 100m hurdles and 3rd place in the 300m hurdles. Amanda Adams placed 6th in the 800m run and the 4x400m relay team of Shelby Grigsby, Dani Titus, Adams, and Elam placed 6th.
On the boys side, the Bulldogs challenged Eastmoor for the team title but placed 2nd with 95 points to Eastmoor’s 101 points. Aric Adams placed 8th in both the 110m hurdles and the 300m hurdles. The 4x200m and 4x100m relay teams both placed 8th.
Qualifying to the regional meet this week are the boys 4x800m relay team, Kyle Yoho and Daulton Brown in the discus and Gunner Babcock in the long jump. Taylor Hopkins set a new school record and took first in the 1600m run with a time of 4:21.05 and also took first in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.64. Chandler Wilhelm beat his best time by 4 seconds placing right behind Hopkins in second place in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.97. Carlos Rencher took first in the 400m and finished 5th in the 200m. Nick Lee advanced to the Regional Meet with a third place finish in the 3200m run. Finishing off the meet were Nick Lines, Andrae Manning, Hopkins, and Rencher finishing second to Eastmoor with a season best time of 2:24.42. The Dogs will travel Lexington High School this week for the Regional Meet.
