The team got their post season off to a successful start today by winning their third LCL Cardinal title in a row, and for the second consecutive season made it a clean sweep by finishing 1-2-3-4-5. Chandler Wilhelm was the overall LCL winner with a time of 16:11, with Nick Lee finishing second in 16:24. Rounding out team scoring and earning First Team All-LCL status were Xavier Foehl placing third (16:35), Dylan Hammond fourth (16:42), and Paul Collier fifth (16:52). Earning Second Team All-LCL honors were Jack Lutz finishing 8th (17:24) and Preston Pethtel 10th (17:50).
Our JV runners ended their season by winning the Open Race, and every runner ended their year with a personal best time. Wyatt McQueen began his comeback from a prolonged illness by winning the race in a time of 17:42, with Aidan Schaffer finishing second in (18:10). Andrew Williamson placed fourth (18:29), and Josh Harper tenth (19:42). Also running PRâs were Seth Werner (20:09), Wesley Mitchell-Houdeshell (21:19), Michael Lambert (21:52), Garrett Elam (22:59), and Long Lin (24:03).
I intentionally omitted our fourth JV runner to finish as we had a VERY special performance turned in. Matt Bowman ran a career best time and finish seventh in a time of 19:06. What made his run so special was Matt stepped on a tree root before hitting the half mile point in the race, and literally broke his footâ¦I had no idea he had done it and he finished the race in a career best time with a broken bone in his foot. We try very hard to place an emphasis on toughness, both physically and mentally in our program, but Matt took this to a whole new level today!!!!
