What a way to end our season, as we made school history and placed 3rd at the State Meet Saturday. Special kudos to Xavier Foehl as he ended his high school career with a sterling 4th place finish individually, earning All-Ohio honors for the second consecutive year.

We were in third place at every point in the race until we hit the 4200 meter mark. The last 800 meters, however, was beyond memorable…

Starting with Xavier, I witnessed our guys dig deep and showed the character and grit that should really make Heath proud!!!! Xavier was 10th at this point, and proceeded to blow by 6 of Ohio’s best cross country runners; Dylan Hammond (who is one of the most unsung talents in Ohio) picked up a couple points; Andrew Williamson ran the race of his career and gained six points; Jack Lutz fought to hold every spot he physically could; and Preston Pethtel (who has been rehabbing physical injuries nonstop for over a month trying to get back for us) flew home and picked up 7 points!!!

I don’t want to neglect mentioning Aidan Schaffer and Michael Imbody having the honor of running in this race as well. These kids will always be able to say they ran at the State meet for the third place team in Ohio.

Congratulations men!!!
